The next-generation SL-Class convertible  SL R230 was introduced with SL led , aggressive front end, the new design philosophy of Mercedes. The Stuttgart-based company is currently busy developing the new SL, the R231. The new SL will be designed from scratch to cut, especially as part of a program drastically sports car weight. Which will be replaced by that of aluminum high-strength steel body of the current SL. By using this lighter material in the next SL and its variants reportedly weighs 200 kilograms less that would benefit performance and emissions.

According to reports, the new SL-styling evokes the lines of the new SLK, SL, although the size of the current model. The optional Control Magic Sky glass, which was introduced in the SLK is in the SL. These roofs can be made transparent or darkened at the touch of a button.

Under the hood there is a 300-horsepower V6 and V8 bi-turbo, which are 430 hp. Other engines are also available, but it is not known whether this car has a V12 powered environmental considerations led to the downsizing trend. Without doubt we can expect an AMG version in the future, probably driven by a 5.5-liter V8.

The current SL is produced in the northern German city of Bremen, but the next model will be assembled at the main Mercedes plant in Sindelfingen near Stuttgart, where the majority of aluminum-based business models are produced. The new SL is the first public appearance next year.
