June 27, 2011 - Category BMW
Based on M3 E90 Saloon, BMW has introduced the new M3 CRT with Carbon Racing Technology. BMW E90 M3 CRT is a lightweight version of E90 M3, which follows the previously revealed M3 GTS Sedan Concept. The saved weight is not much – 45 kg (100 lbs) or totally 1580 kg, but practically the car feels much more faster and it is.
BMW E90 M3 CRT has installed carbon fiber hood, seats and roof as well as the titanium exhaust. There are also hood vents, fender side blades and a carbon fiber boot lid spoiler. The interior boasts special rear seats, door sills and door panels from carbon fiber and some aluminum trim.
The engine is the well-known 4.4 liter V8 based on the 4.0-litre power unit found in the standard M3. The maximum power is 450PS (331 kW) and 440Nm of torque. The engine is mated to the 7-speed M dual clutch transmission (M-DCT) with adapted shift characteristics. 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.4 seconds and the top speed is 290 km/h (180 mph). Just a perfect performance.
M3 CRT stands on 19” aluminum wheels fitted with 245/35 ZR19 tires at the front and 265/30 ZR19 at the rear. The braking system includes 378 x 32mm at the front and 380 x 28mm out back with 6-piston calipers. You can buy this car with 130 000 Euro. Sure, its not a cheap car..
